Objective: Early reports have indicated that the Omicron variant of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) may be associated with low mortality. However, the mortality rate of critical patients in Taiwan with COVID-19 caused by different variants has not been well described.
Methods: This retrospective cohort study was conducted at the Linkou Branch of Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Taiwan, from April 2020 to September 2022.
Cerebral arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are tangles of abnormal vessels with early arteriovenous (AV) shunting that can lead to intracerebral hemorrhage, seizures, neurologic deficit, or headache. To date, only a few cases of carcinomas metastasizing to pre-existing cerebral AVMs have been reported in the literature. However, renal clear cell carcinoma (RCC) brain metastases that exhibit early AV shunting, where AVM pathology is not present, are extremely rare.

- Findings revealed that 27.3% of asthma patients were sensitized to staphylococcal enterotoxin, and half of these patients also had fungal sensitization, which led to increased rates of hospital visits and the need for intensive asthma treatment.
- Despite treatment adherence improving overall outcomes, those with both staphylococcal and fungal sensitization experienced a significant decline in lung function after one year of high-level treatment.
