Objective: In this study, we aimed to establish an experimental model of idiopathic condylar resorption by combining surgically induced anterior disc displacement and estrogen deficiency in growing rabbits. This study aimed to investigate the individual and combined effects of these factors on condylar resorption.

Materials And Methods: Seventeen female Japanese White rabbits were divided into four groups: control, ovariectomy, anterior disc displacement surgery, and combination of ovariectomy and anterior disc displacement surgery.

Filament of human hair is formed from α-keratin protein and its physical property is predominantly dominated by the structure of microfibril (also known as intermediate filaments (IF)). It is known that human hair is swollen by permanent waving (pw) treatment which consists of the reducing process and following oxidizing process, but a detail in the swelling behaviour remains still unclarified. The present work was devoted to the analysis of the swelling behaviour of hair through the structural change of IF during pw treatment, where 1.

Article Synopsis
  • A study reviewed 106 patients with advanced urothelial carcinoma treated with the antibody-drug conjugate enfortumab vedotin (EV) between 2021 and 2023 to evaluate the impact of treatment-related adverse events (trAEs) on survival outcomes.* -
  • The results indicated that 88.7% of patients experienced some form of trAEs, with skin and gastrointestinal issues being the most common, and a landmark analysis suggested that trAEs were linked to longer overall survival, particularly physical trAEs.* -
  • The study concluded that managing trAEs and understanding their prognostic value is important for improving the outcomes of EV therapy in these patients, highlighting that physical trAEs were

Background: Redo mitral valve surgery by re-sternotomy approach has challenges such as bleeding and organ injury due to adhesion dissection, sternal bone infection, and poor field of view of mitral valve. On the other hand, redo mitral valve surgery via a right mini-thoracotomy approach appears to address these challenges. We successfully performed a double right mini-thoracotomies approach for mitral valve replacement and pseudoaneurysm repair under the beating-heart condition.

Treatment of phthalan derivatives with -chloranil in dodecane in the presence of molecular sieves at 160-200 °C allowed the generation of unstabilized isobenzofurans, which underwent intramolecular Diels-Alder reaction to give endo cycloadducts exclusively. The cycloaddition turned out to be reversible, providing an equilibrium mixture of endo adducts when heating a substrate with a stereocenter on the tether. We also demonstrated the regioselective allylation of an oxygen-bridged cycloadduct upon exposure to EtAlCl in the presence of allyltrimethylsilane, and the conversion to Rice's intermediate completed a formal synthesis of (±)-morphine.
