Objective: This cross-sectional study examined associations between wheelchair sprint and anaerobic power (measured in the lab) and wheelchair mobility performance (measured in the field) among two groups of wheelchair tennis players. Additionally, construct validity was assessed for both lab and field tests.

Design: Nine amateur and nine elite wheelchair tennis players performed a Sprint and Wingate test on a wheelchair ergometer in the lab and a Sprint, Illinois and Spider test in the field, with inertial measurement units on their wheelchairs.

Pyruvate kinase (PK) is a key enzyme involved in the final step of glycolysis, essential to produce adenosine triphosphate (ATP). Relatively decreased red blood cell (RBC) PK activity (reflected by a lower PK/hexokinase [HK] ratio) and PK thermostability (PK activity after exposure to heat) were recently identified as pathophysiological features of sickle cell disease (SCD). Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of rhythmic embrocation (RE), a massage technique, on postoperative stress levels (measured by heart rate variability) in colorectal cancer surgery patients compared to empathic conversation.

Methods: The study included 68 patients who were randomized into three groups: one received RE from professionals, another from students, and the third received empathic conversations. Stress was quantified using heart rate variability before and after the interventions.
