HIV infection among pregnant women in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso: comparison of voluntary and blinded seroprevalence estimates.

The objective of our study was to estimate the prevalence of HIV infection among pregnant women in Bobo-Dioulasso (Burkina Faso) according to 2 survey methods. Unlinked anonymous HIV screening was performed among women attending 2 antenatal clinics. Voluntary and confidential HIV counselling and testing were offered to women attending 2 other antenatal clinics in the same time period, September-October 1996.
