Background: To evaluate the disease burden, risk of complications and mortality in children with viral detection during the peri-liver transplant period.
Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted between January 2020 and December 2023 at a tertiary university hospital. Children who underwent multiplex polymerase chain reaction testing from 7 days before to 14 days after liver transplantation were included.
Background: Language plays a crucial role in health care and especially in mental health, since the use of the native language helps to make a good diagnosis as several studies have shown.
Aim: We studied the influence of language on the accurate detection of psychotic and affective symptoms, exploring differences in the severity of reported symptomatology in a bilingual Basque-Spanish population.
Methods: The study uses the Prodromal Questionnaire-Brief for the detection of psychosis and the Patient Health Questionnaire-9, Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale-7, and Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale-42 for the assessment of stress, anxiety and depression.
The persistent demand for plastic commodities, inadequate recycling infrastructure, and pervasive environmental contamination due to plastic waste present a formidable global challenge. Recycling, degradation and upcycling are the three most important ways to solve the problem of plastic pollution. Sequential enzymatic and microbial degradation of mechanically and chemically pre-treated plastic waste can be orchestrated, followed by microbial conversion into value-added chemicals and polymers through mixed culture systems.

Active packaging has emerged to release or absorb bioactive components, which are often sensitive to physical, chemical and/or enzymatic factors as well as being unstable. Lipid-based nanocarriers (nanoemulsions, nanoliposomes, solid lipid nanoparticles and nanostructured lipid carriers) have demonstrated their industrial potential and efficiency in the uptake, protection, bioavailability and controlled/targeted release of a wide variety of water-soluble, fat-soluble or amphiphilic bioactive substances.

Inverse oxide-metal model catalysts can show superior activity and selectivity compared with the traditional supported metal-oxide architecture, commonly attributed to the synergistic overlayer-support interaction. We have investigated the growth and redox properties of ceria nanoislands grown on Au(111) between 700 and 890 °C, which yields the CeO-Au(111) model catalyst system. We have observed a distinct correlation between deposition temperature, structural order, and oxide composition through low-energy electron microscopy, low-energy electron diffraction, intensity-voltage curves, and X-ray absorption spectroscopy.
