Article Synopsis
  • Researchers aimed to see if they could determine a person's sex just by looking at their dental photos and find any specific dental traits linked to gender.
  • 100 intraoral photographs were shown to three groups (expert dentists, non-expert dentists, and laypeople) who had to guess the sex of the individuals depicted, with varying success rates across groups.
  • The study found that while certain dental features, like the shape of incisors, appeared to be linked to gender perceptions, there was no significant difference in sex identification ability among the groups, indicating dentition doesn’t strongly influence sex perception.
