Background And Aim: Diabetes has been shown in last decades to be associated with a significantly higher mortality among patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) treated with primary PCI (PPCI). Therefore, the aim of current study was to evaluate the impact of diabetes on times delays, reperfusion and mortality in a contemporary STEMI population undergoing PPCI, including treatment during the COVID pandemic.

Methods And Results: The ISACS-STEMI COVID-19 is a large-scale retrospective multicenter registry involving PPCI centers from Europe, Latin America, South-East Asia and North-Africa, including patients treated from 1st of March until June 30, 2019 and 2020.

Background: Drug-eluting stents (DESs) with controlled antiproliferative drug release reduce restenosis risk, but durable polymers can delay healing and inhibit reendothelialization. The Firehawk biodegradable polymer sirolimus-eluting stent (BP-SES) has a fully biodegradable sirolimus-containing polymer coating localized to recessed abluminal grooves on the stent surface and delivers roughly one-third the drug dose of other DESs.

Objectives: We report the primary results of the TARGET-IV NA (Firehawk Rapamycin Target Eluting Coronary Stent North American Trial) randomized controlled trial comparing clinical outcomes with BP-SES vs currently used second-generation DESs.

Plasticity-related gene (PRG) 5 is a vertebrate specific membrane protein, that belongs to the family of lipid-phosphate phosphatases (LPPs). It is prominently expressed in neurons and is involved in cellular processes such as growth-cone guidance and spine formation. At a functional level, PRG5 induces filopodia in non-neuronal cell lines, as well as the formation of plasma membrane protrusions in primary cortical and hippocampal neurons.
