Tomography and imaging at the PSICHE beam line of the SOLEIL synchrotron.

PSICHE (Pressure, Structure and Imaging by Contrast at High Energy) is the high-energy beam line of the SOLEIL synchrotron. The beam line is designed to study samples at extreme pressures, using diffraction, and to perform imaging and tomography for materials science and other diverse applications. This paper presents the tomograph and the use of the beam line for imaging, with emphasis on developments made with respect to existing instruments.

Impact of a nurse-led programme on comorbidity management and impact of a patient self-assessment of disease activity on the management of rheumatoid arthritis: results of a prospective, multicentre, randomised, controlled trial (COMEDRA).

Objectives: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients are at an increased risk of developing comorbid conditions. A close monitoring of the disease targeting a status of low disease activity is associated with a better outcome. The aim of this trial was to evaluate the impact of a nurse-led programme on comorbidities and the impact of patient self-assessment of disease activity on the management of RA.

Surgical treatment of hemorrhoids: a critical appraisal of the current options.

Introduction: Surgical treatment of hemorrhoids is still a dilemma. New techniques have been developed leading to a lower rate of postoperative pain; however, they are associated with a greater likelihood of recurrence.

Aim: To review current indications as well as the results and complications of the main techniques currently used in the surgical treatment of hemorrhoidal disease.

The empathy relationship, to be and support the family, to contain the tears and the sorrow, to listen the stories and memories going through the illness path, are important moments that professionals are asked to share with the family and its components after its member death.
