Aqueous zinc-ion batteries (AZIBs) have great application potential in large-scale grid energy storage systems. However, the practical application of AZIBs is hindered by several serious issues arising from zinc anodes, such as hydrogen evolution, corrosion, and the formation of zinc dendrites and byproducts. In this study, renewable and low-cost hardwood kraft lignin was modified by the grafting of quaternary ammonium groups.

Budding yeast, is an ideal model organism for genetic research due to its similarity in life cycle and cellular structure to higher eukaryotes as well as its ease of cultivation and manipulation in the laboratory. Yeast cells benefit from being cultured in calorie-restricted media, which can be achieved by reducing glucose concentration from 2 % to 0.5 %.

Brain tumors represent a significant burden, particularly in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) where access to neuroimaging techniques is often limited. Conventional MRI machines are expensive and bulky, posing a significant challenge in the diagnosis and treatment of brain tumors in LMICs. However, an emerging technology, ultra-low field magnetic resonance imaging (pULF-MRI), has the potential to address this limitation.

Cisplatin and other anticancer drugs face challenges such as systemic toxicity and drug resistance, necessitating novel delivery strategies. Nanoparticles have revolutionized drug delivery by enhancing the efficacy and bioavailability of therapeutic agents. In this study, silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were green-synthesized using Chromolaena odorata (CO) and characterized using UV-Vis spectroscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy/energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM/EDS), x-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM).

This study synthesized eighteen phenyl and furan rings containing thiazole Schiff base derivatives 2(a-r) in five series, and spectral analyses confirmed their structures. The in vitro antibacterial activities of the synthesized analogs against two gram-positive and two gram-negative bacteria were evaluated by disk diffusion technique. Compounds (2d) and (2n) produced prominently high zone of inhibition with 48.
