Objectives: Variations in transmucosal abutment contour design may affect the outcomes of implant therapy. This randomized controlled trial was primarily aimed at testing the effect that CAD/CAM zirconia abutments with either a concave or linear divergent transmucosal morphology have on peri-implant mucosal dynamics and indicators of peri-implant health at 1 year after final implant-supported prosthesis insertion in the anterior maxilla.

Data from three experiments was analyzed to determine the number of visits and days to assess gas flux (CH, CO, and O), dry matter intake (DMI), and average daily gain (ADG) from growing animals under confined conditions. In experiment 1, 213 animals (461 ± 91 kg initial body weight [BW]) were fed a backgrounding diet and evaluated for 60 d. In experiment 2, 169 steers (488 ± 37 kg initial BW) were fed a finishing diet and assessed for 70 d.

Importance: Uncontrolled hypertension (ie, a 24-hour ambulatory systolic blood pressure of ≥130 mm Hg and diastolic blood pressure of ≥80 mm Hg or clinic systolic blood pressure of ≥140 mm Hg and diastolic blood pressure of ≥90 mm Hg) in young adults is a US public health burden.

Objective: To evaluate the effect of a telephone coaching and blood pressure self-monitoring intervention compared with usual care on changes in systolic and diastolic blood pressures and behaviors at 6 and 12 months.

Design, Setting, And Participants: This randomized clinical trial included male and female participants aged 18 to 39 years with uncontrolled hypertension confirmed by 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure testing.

Background: A high incidence of asthma is prevalent among residents near the Salton Sea, a large inland terminal lake in southern California. This arid region has high levels of ambient particulate matter (PM); yet while high PM levels are often associated with asthma in many environments, it is possible that the rapidly retreating lake, and exposed playa or lakebed, may contribute components with a specific role in promoting asthma symptoms.

Objectives: Our hypothesis is that asthma may be higher in residents closest to the Salton Sea due to chronic exposures to playa dust.
