We aimed to evaluate the effects of milled rapeseed (MR) supplementation of low- or high-concentrate diets on milk production and composition, fatty acids (FAs) profile, and antioxidant capacity. Sixteen Jersey dairy cows were used in a 4 × 4 Latin square design, for four periods of 4 weeks, and assigned to four treatments as a 2 × 2 factorial design. Dietary treatments consisted of iso-nitrogenated total mixed rations with high (65:35; LC-low concentrate) or low (50:50; HC-high concentrate) forage:concentrate (FC) ratios, supplemented with MR to provide 30 g oil/kg dry matter (DM) (LR and HR), or without MR supplement (L and H).

Porcine cDNA samples, from sows identified using IEF as carriers of polymorphic variants, were sequenced, and based on the sequence alignments, a genotyping assay was developed. The distribution of the polymorphism was investigated by genotyping 167 sows.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe aim of this study was to analyze the indication and results of open pancreatic drainage by celiostomy in severe necrotizing pancreatitis (SNP). 44 patients with SNP were treated surgically by open lesser-omental sac drainage (celiostomy) in the last nine years (1989-1997). They were classified into three groups according to date (timing) of celiostomy: a group of 23 patients with early celiostomy (in the first week after the onset of pancreatitis); second group of 11 patients with celiostomy in the second and third week after SNP; the third group of 10 patients with late celiostomy (4-12 weeks after pancreatitis).
