Objective: As the thoracolumbar interfascial plane (TLIP) block may be a promising alternative in spinal surgery, there is a need for timely meta-analysis of this method's effectiveness in different medical outcomes.

Methods: The meta-analysis of 6 randomized controlled studies on the application of TLIP block in spinal surgery was performed under the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines. The primary outcome used for comparison was the mean difference (MD) of pain intensity scores at rest/in motion between patients receiving TLIP block and those receiving no block care.

Polymer molecules in a flow undergo a coil-stretch phase transition on an increase of the velocity gradients. Model-independent identification and characterization of the transition in a random flow has been lacking so far. Here we suggest to use the entropy of the extension statistics as a proper measure due to strong fluctuations around the transition.

Uzbekistan, the most populous country in central Asia, was the first in the region to introduce rotavirus vaccine into its national immunization program. Rotarix (GlaxoSmithKline Biologicals, RV1) was introduced in June 2014, with doses recommended at age 2 and 3 months. To evaluate vaccine impact, active surveillance for rotavirus diarrhea was reestablished in 2014 at 2 hospitals in Tashkent and Bukhara which had also performed surveillance during the pre-vaccine period 2005-2009.
