Article Synopsis
  • - The proposed method enhances the accuracy of classifying normal, COVID-19, and pneumonia lung X-ray images through advanced preprocessing techniques, resulting in better image quality and improved intersection over union scores for lung segmentation.
  • - Algorithms like histogram of oriented gradients (HOG), Haar transform, and local binary pattern (LBP) are utilized for feature extraction and segmentation of lungs, ultimately benefiting respiratory disease detection.
  • - A comparison of different deep learning architectures, including VGGNet, AlexNet, ResNet, and a newly proposed neural network, shows that the new model achieves superior classification accuracy for respiratory diseases among the three classes.
