Finger amputations following complex hand injuries (CHI) pose a significant challenge in hand surgery due to severe tissue trauma and neurovascular damage, necessitating precise arterial repair. While restoring arterial perfusion is critical, it remains unclear whether reconstructing both proper palmar digital arteries is required for optimal outcomes. This study evaluates whether restoring one or both arteries in finger replantation after complex injuries impacts perfusion and overall outcomes.

Methods: Participants were drawn from the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI) and included 1185 adults >55 years of age with plasma p-tau181 and neuropsychological test data. Linear regression models related plasma p-tau181 to neuropsychological composite and SCD scores with follow-up models examining plasma p-tau181 interactions with cognitive diagnosis, apolipoprotein E ε4 carrier status, age, and sex on cognitive outcomes.
Background: Treating heavily calcified vessels is a challenging task in patients with an impaired left ventricular ejection fraction. Percutaneous mechanical circulatory support (pMCS) is increasingly used in patients in high-risk percutaneous coronary intervention (HRPCI).
Methods: In this retrospective registry, we investigated 25 patients undergoing a protected HRPCI receiving either intravascular lithotripsy (IVL + pMCS; = 11) or rotational atherectomy (RA + pMCS; = 14).

There are currently no effective treatments to prevent, halt, or reverse Alzheimer's disease (AD), the most common cause of dementia in older adults. Melatonin, a relatively harmless over-the-counter supplement, may offer some benefits to patients with AD. Melatonin is known for its sleep-enhancing properties, but research shows that it may provide other advantages as well, such as antioxidant and anti-amyloidogenic properties.
