Oncological and endoprosthetic outcomes of bone sarcoma patients: a nationwide cohort study.

Purpose: To retrospectively analyze the entire cohort of patients in the Republic of Slovenia diagnosed with bone sarcomas in the long bones or pelvis/sacrum/coccyx from January 1, 2009, to December 31, 2018, with an observational nationwide study, whereby all patients were evaluated by one single tumor board in the country. We evaluated surgical outcomes and tested whether survival of bone sarcoma patients depended on age, gender, histological diagnosis.

Materials And Methods: Cancer Registry of the Republic of Slovenia was screened for all ICD-10 diagnoses from C40.

Aggressive surgical treatment of retroperitoneal sarcoma: long-term experience of a single institution.

Surgery is the main modality in the therapy of retroperitoneal soft-tissue sarcomas (RSTS). A retrospective study was undertaken to evaluate the results of aggressive surgical treatment in a series of patients of primary and recurrent retroperitoneal sarcomas. A review of 166 consecutive patients with RSTS operated on at the Institute of Oncology in Ljubljana from 1975 through 2005 were reviewed.

Osteosarcoma arising in a solitary osteochondroma of the fibula.

We present a case of osteosarcoma arising in an osteochondroma of the right fibula in a 30-year-old woman. The available radiographic studies of the lesion were not suggestive of malignant transformation. The lesion and underlying bone were excised.

Pseudosarcoma in Paget's disease of bone.

The appearance of a sarcoma of bone is a well-recognized complication of Paget's disease. The most common type of such a sarcoma is osteosarcoma. Much less common are soft tissue lesions adjoining the pagetic bone that clinically and radiologically simulate sarcoma but histologically represent exaggerated periosteal bone formation as a manifestation of the basic pathologic process.
