The perception of facial and vocal stimuli is driven by sensory input and cognitive top-down influences. Important top-down influences are attentional focus and supramodal social memory representations. The present study investigated the neural networks underlying these top-down processes and their role in social stimulus classification.

Female NMRI-mice were injected intraperitoneally and subcutaneously with zinc chloride and lead chloride as well as with a mixture of both. The mice were also immunized with foreign-proteins. To demonstrate the interconections, the heavy metals and the proteins were injected separately, as was the heavy-metal-protein-suspension.
