Injectable Poly-L-Lactic Acid for Body Aesthetic Treatments: An International Consensus on Evidence Assessment and Practical Recommendations.

Non-facial (body) rejuvenation is a treatment of increasing demand, with patients seeking to harmonize the benefits of rejuvenated facial appearance with other areas of the body. Poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA)-SCA (Sculptra®) has been approved for facial aesthetic uses since 1999 in Europe and since 2009 in the USA and more recently evaluated for the treatment of cellulite of the buttocks and thighs and other body indications. The current evidence base consists largely of prospective observational analyses and case series although systematic evaluations for a number of body areas are underway.

Development and Validation of a Novel Holistic Skin Quality Assessment Scale.

Background: Radiant skin is a common patient request and the result of multiple contributing factors. Currently, there is no standardized methodological approach that facilitates assessment of skin quality from a holistic perspective.

Aim: To develop a holistic methodological process to assess skin quality using a scale that helps identify treatment priorities, facilitates conversation with the subject, and helps manage expectations, supports long-term treatment plans, and tracks treatment progress over time.

Full Face Application of Topical Platelet Extract for Skin Rejuventation in Monozygotic Twins.

Two monozygotic twins (Fitzpatrick skin type II 56-year-old women) with significant photoaging and mild to moderate global fine lines based on the modified Griffiths 10-point scale were enrolled in the study. The past medical etymology and laboratory evaluation were unremarkable. Each subject followed a standardized skin care regimen with topical platelet renewosomes (human platelet extract [HPE]) daily for a 12-week duration.

The development of minimally invasive, non-surgical, and office-based procedures that have minimal downtime has stimulated an interest among men who may seek cosmetic treatments to increase competitiveness and appear youthful in the workplace. There has also been greater media attention on the male appearance and grooming along with increasing acceptance of cosmetic procedures within society. Achieving a successful cosmetic treatment in a male patient requires the physician to recognize the gender differences that exist.

Aesthetic Considerations for Treating Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual Patients: A Review and Our Experience.

Objectvie: The population of the United States continues to grow in diversity, particularly within sex and gender. In recent years, there has been a surge in aesthetic procedures in the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual (LGB) community. Herein, we discuss a tailored approach to these patient populations and offer guidance to address their concerns both safely and effectively based on a comprehensive review of the literature as well as a roundtable series focusing on diversity in aesthetics.
