Selected biological resources used as raw materials in beer production are important drivers of innovation and segmentation in the dynamic market of craft beers. Among these resources, local/regional ingredients have several benefits, such as strengthening the connection with territories, enhancing the added value of the final products, and reducing supply costs and environmental impacts. It is assumed that specific ingredients provide differences in flavours, aromas, and, more generally, sensory attributes of the final products.

Smart cities use Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) to enrich existing public services and to improve citizens' quality of life. In this scenario, Mobile CrowdSensing (MCS) has become, in the last few years, one of the most prominent paradigms for urban sensing. MCS allow people roaming around with their smart devices to collectively sense, gather, and share data, thus leveraging the possibility to capture the pulse of the city.

Down Syndrome (DS) is characterised by premature aging and an accelerated decline of cognitive functions in the vast majority of cases. As the life expectancy of DS persons is rapidly increasing, this decline is becoming a dramatic health problem. The aim of this study was to thoroughly evaluate a group of 67 non-demented persons with DS of different ages (11 to 66 years), from a neuropsychological, neuropsychiatric and psychomotor point of view in order to evaluate in a cross-sectional study the age-related adaptive and neuropsychological features, and to possibly identify early signs predictive of cognitive decline.

Introduction: We characterized four unrelated patients with von Willebrand disease type 2A/IIE, sharing the same von Willebrand factor (VWF) in-frame deletion (p.[P1127_G1180delinsR];[=]) resulting from exon 26 skipping (Δ26).

Objectives: To identify the VWF mutations and how they caused the mRNA splicing alteration, to evaluate the deletion by in vitro expression studies, and to assess whether or not the heterogeneity of the patients' phenotype might be related to a different degree of expression of the deleted subunit in patient plasma VWF.

Type 3 von Willebrand disease (VWD3) is characterized by unmeasurable von Willebrand factor (VWF) levels in plasma and platelets and severe but variable hemorrhagic symptoms. To identify and characterize the causal mutations, we screened 10 Italian patients with VWD3 by several techniques including Multiplex Ligation-dependent Probe Amplification to identify large insertions and deletions, High Resolution Melting and PCR coupled with Sanger sequencing. Fourteen different mutations scattered throughout the VWF gene were identified, 10 of which were novel.
