Background: Achieving a pathologic complete response to neoadjuvant chemoradiation improves prognosis in rectal cancer. Statin therapy has been shown to enhance the impact of treatment in several malignancies, but little is known regarding the impact on rectal cancer response to neoadjuvant chemoradiation.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine whether statin use during neoadjuvant chemoradiation improves pathologic response in rectal cancer.
Background: Patients fulfilling Amsterdam-1 criteria without mismatch repair deficiency (termed familial colorectal cancer type X (FCC type X)) were reported to have lower cancer risks than classic Lynch syndrome. This study investigates the polyp and cancer burden of this population and demonstrates relationships with a family history score (FHS).
Methods: The Jagelman Registry was queried for patients meeting Amsterdam criteria with microsatellite stable/low colorectal cancers.
Background: Colorectal cancer is a heterogeneous disease with multiple underlying genetic mutations causing different clinical phenotypes. Mutation in the BRAF oncogene is a key step in malignant transformation within the methylator pathway to colorectal cancer. However, there is a paucity of information about BRAF mutant colorectal tumors.

The current study evaluates preresection biopsies from patients who underwent esophagectomy for at least BE-HGD, to compare the recently published histologic categories by the University of Michigan (UM) and Cleveland Clinic (CC), correlate preresection and final resection diagnosis, and identify histologic features in biopsies that might be predictive of adenocarcinoma on esophagectomy. A total of 112 cases with a consensus biopsy diagnosis (agreement by ≥4 of 7 gastrointestinal pathologists) were statistically analyzed to identify histologic features that predicted adenocarcinoma on resection.
