Elucidating metabolic pathways through genomic analysis in highly heavy metal-resistant strains.

The annotated and predicted genomes of five archaeal strains (AS1, AS2, AS8, AS11 and AS19), isolated from Sfax solar saltern sediments (Tunisia) and affiliated with , were performed by RAST webserver (Rapid Annotation using Subsystem Technology) and NCBI prokaryotic genome annotation pipeline (PGAP). The results showed the ability of strains to use a reduced semi-phosphorylative Entner-Doudoroff pathway for glucose degradation and an Embden-Meyerhof one for gluconeogenesis. They could use glucose, fructose, glycerol, and acetate as sole source of carbon and energy.

Contribution of ultrasound-assisted surgery coupled with Walant anaesthesia in bilateral carpal tunnel surgery.

Introduction: The simultaneous bilateral release of carpal tunnels still remains a non-unanimous practice. We prospectively studied the contribution of ultrasound-guided surgery coupled with Walant anaesthesia in the simultaneous release of both carpal tunnels.

Materials And Methods: Patients who presented bilateral clinical involvement confirmed by electromyogram were operated on in the operating room under Walant anaesthesia by minimally invasive knife section under ultrasound guidance.

Dual Mobility Trapeziometacarpal Joint Arthroplasty: A Survey on Variations in Surgical Techniques and Patient Management.

Dual mobility total joint arthroplasty is gaining popularity for trapeziometacarpal joint (TMCJ) arthritis, with evolving indications, surgical technique and rehabilitation. The aim of this study was to obtain detailed insight into the variations in indications, surgical technique and rehabilitation for TMCJ arthroplasty with dual mobility implants, across a large international cohort of surgeons. The secondary aim was to analyse if there were differences in TMCJ arthroplasty between highly and less experienced surgeons.

Polysaccharide from Thymelaea hirsuta L. leaves: Structural characterization, functional properties and antioxidant evaluation.

In this study, we successfully extracted a new polysaccharide from Thymelaea hirsuta L., which we named THP, with a yield of 13.94 % through aqueous extraction.

Full arthroscopic vs. arthroscopically assisted posterosuperior latissimus dorsi tendon transfer for shoulders with failed and irreparable rotator cuff repair: matched case-control study.

Purpose: To compare clinical outcomes and complication rates of full arthroscopic latissimus dorsi tendon transfer (LDTT) vs. arthroscopically assisted LDTT, for the treatment of irreparable posterosuperior massive rotator cuff tears (mRCTs) in shoulders that had failed rotator cuff repair (RCR).

Methods: We evaluated a continuous series of 191 patients who underwent LDTT over 4 consecutive years.
