Background: In a phase 2 study in patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma, overall survival was associated with T-cell responses against IMA901, a vaccine consisting of ten tumour-associated peptides. In this phase 3 trial, we aimed to determine the clinical effect of adding IMA901 to sunitinib, the standard first-line treatment in metastatic renal cell carcinoma with postulated favourable immunomodulatory effects.

Methods: The IMPRINT study is an open-label, randomised, controlled, phase 3 trial done at 124 clinical sites in 11 countries.

Background: The open-label, phase II RECORD-2 trial compared efficacy and safety of first-line everolimus plus bevacizumab (EVE/BEV) with interferon plus bevacizumab (IFN/BEV) in patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma.

Patients And Methods: Previously untreated patients were randomized 1:1 to bevacizumab 10 mg/kg every 2 weeks with either everolimus 10 mg/day (EVE/BEV) or interferon (9 MIU 3 times/week, if tolerated) (IFN/BEV). Tumor assessments occurred every 12 weeks.

Current research confirms that the prostate-specific antigen (PSA) is not just a protein required for liquefaction of the ejaculate but it plays biological role in the development of prostate cancer. Assessment of the PSA dynamics offers good opportunities for understanding the kinetics of growth of prostate tumors. The most frequently it is performed calculation of PSA doubling time (PSADT), a parameter that requires a logarithmic analysis and takes into account the exponential nature of tumor growth.

The study included 164 prostate cancer patients with a history of acute or chronic urinary retention. Conservative therapy or transurethral resection of the prostate were carried out to all patients as treatment for urinary retention. There was studied an influence of transurethral resection of the prostate on the survival of patients with prostate cancer and development of radiation complications following radiotherapy.

Strictures of vesicourethral anastomosis (VUA), urethral strictures, and bladder neck obliteration are frequent complications occurring after treatment for prostate cancer and dramatically reducing the quality of life of the patients. To date, there is no single standard treatment of urethral strictures. One of the promising methods is laser optical urethrotomy using a solid-state Ho:YAG- laser.
