Intraoperative clonidine in endometriosis and spine surgery: A protocol for two randomised, blinded, placebo-controlled trials.

Background: A high proportion of patients who undergo surgery continue to suffer from moderate to severe pain in the early postoperative period despite advances in pain management strategies. Previous studies suggest that clonidine, an alpha adrenergic agonist, administered during the perioperative period could reduce acute postoperative pain intensity and opioid consumption. However, these studies have several limitations related to study design and sample size and hence, further studies are needed.

Ticket to perform: an explorative study of trainees' engagement in and transfer of surgical training.

Background: Research suggests that simulation-based surgical skills training translates into improved operating room performance. Previous studies have predominantly focused on training methods and design and subsequent assessable performances and outcomes in the operating room, which only covers some aspects of training engagement and transfer of training. The purpose of this qualitative study was to contribute to the existing body of literature by exploring characteristics of first-year trainees' engagement in and perceptions of transfer of surgical skills training.

Impact of surgery on fertility among patients with deep infiltrating endometriosis.

Objective: The aim of the study was to investigate pregnancy and live birth rate after surgical resection of rectosigmoid deep infiltrating endometriosis (DIE), and study if complications affect these rates.

Study Design: Historical case series. 193 patients with rectosigmoid DIE and pregnancy intention undergoing a rectosigmoid resection for DIE from January 2009 to May 2019.

Extrapelvic endometriosis is a rare type of endometriosis. The diagnosis can be challenging, especially if the patient lacks characteristic endometriosis symptoms. This case report presents a 27-year-old woman diagnosed with both primary umbilical endometriosis and infiltrating endometriosis of the diaphragm.

EFFORT study: Comparing impact of operation and assisted reproductive technologies on fertility for women with deep infiltrating endometriosis - study protocol for a multicentre randomised trial.

Introduction: Deep infiltrating endometriosis (DIE) affecting the rectum or sigmoid colon is associated with infertility, severe pain and decreased quality of life. As most women with DIE are young, many have a pregnancy intention. Treatment possibilities of endometriosis-associated infertility are surgery or assisted reproductive technologies (ART).
