Identify associations between dental arch relationship scores, oral health status and deprivation index in patients with complete unilateral cleft lip and palate (UCLP) and bilateral cleft lip and palate (BCLP). Ninety-two 5-year-old children with non-syndromic complete UCLP and thirty-nine 5-year-old children with non-syndromic complete BCLP from the United Kingdom. Data were collected from the 5-year audit outcomes submitted to the Cleft Registry and Audit Network (CRANE).

Objective: To assess the prevalence and patterns of hypodontia in nonsyndromic Pierre Robin sequence (PRS) and compare it with hypodontia in nonsyndromic isolated cleft palates and isolated cleft lips.

Design: Retrospective cohort study.

Setting: Alder Hey Children's Hospital, United Kingdom.

Setting And Sample Population: One hundred 5-year-old children with non-syndromic complete UCLP and forty-two 5-year-olds with non-syndromic complete BCLP from the United Kingdom.

Material And Methods: Data were collected from five-year audit clinics for dental arch relationships, speech, hearing and psychology outcomes.

Human rights violations against sex workers: burden and effect on HIV.

We reviewed evidence from more than 800 studies and reports on the burden and HIV implications of human rights violations against sex workers. Published research documents widespread abuses of human rights perpetrated by both state and non-state actors. Such violations directly and indirectly increase HIV susceptibility, and undermine effective HIV-prevention and intervention efforts.

U.N. guidance note on HIV and sex work "reworked" by activists.

In 2007, UNAIDS issued a guidance note on HIV and sex work, the tone and contents of which angered sex workers, activists and public health workers worldwide. In this article, based on presentations at the conference, M. Seshu et al describe the problems with the guidance note, discuss the reaction to its publication, and explain how a group of activists got together to develop a reworked version of the guidance note.
