A simple method to take macrophotographs that show details even in the microsurgical field was discussed. The method uses any single lens up to 80 mm or any zoom lens in the reverse position with a single-lens reflex camera. In this manner, high reproduction ratios larger than the actual size of the object can be achieved.

The behavior, under burn scars, of three different alloplastic materials, silicone, Medpor and Proplast, was compared in an animal model. A standard burn wound was created in rats, and 3 months later silicone, medpor and proplast alloplasts were placed under the burn scar. The rats were followed for another 3 months and ulceration and/or alloplast exposure rates were evaluated.

An experimental study in adult rats was designed to test whether infant dura, when transplanted as an isograft to different recipient beds, can maintain its osteogenic potential. There was bone regeneration in more than 50% of the defects in all animals in which infant dura was present. There was minimal bone regeneration in defects in which adult dura remained alone and in which the dural defect repaired with adult dural graft.

A small rectangular wire loop was designed to harvest dural graft from rats. This loop was used successfully to take 40 dural grafts from 20 infant and 20 adult rats. The technique is presented in detail.
