Background: Finding a protocol that could prevent bone resorption and be implemented in clinical practice would be crucial in providing sufficient bone to replace missing teeth with implants.

Purpose: The study aimed to determine the effectiveness of different centrifugation platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) protocols in new bone formation and bone regenerative markers.

Study Design, Setting And Sample: This randomized clinical trial was conducted at Izmir Katip Çelebi Research Hospital, a population-based facility in Izmir, Turkey.

The number of implants and their respective configurations for implant-supported treatment modalities have been studied for 4 implant-supported prostheses; however, it is not yet clear whether the use of tilting or short implants in rehabilitation would result in substantially improved bone/implant/prosthesis biomechanics in all-on-six concepts. This study compared the biomechanical behavior of tilted long implants and axially short implants to support fixed prostheses in an atrophic maxilla with all-on-six treatment concepts. Three different implant configurations were planned, and six models were obtained with posterior maxilla D3 and D4 bone densities in this study.

Article Synopsis
  • The study looks at primary FSGS (pFSGS) in Turkey and compares it to trends in other countries, noting that pFSGS cases are rising in the USA but not in Europe or Asia.
  • Researchers used data from Turkish patients with confirmed pFSGS, finding that many are men around 40 years old, with most experiencing nephrotic syndrome as the main symptom.
  • Key findings show that many patients have specific kidney issues, with differences between males and females in blood pressure and kidney function, while overall cases of pFSGS remain stable in Turkey.

Purpose: Bone augmentation is a necessity for atrophied alveolar ridge prior to dental implant placement. Various bone graft types and forms with different characteristics are available in the market for alveolar augmentation. Beta tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP) is a synthetic biomaterial known as the oldest type of calcium phosphate.

Article Synopsis
  • This study evaluates the effectiveness of a posterior-only surgical approach for treating non-pathological traumatic thoracolumbar fractures with spinal cord compression in 17 patients.
  • Results showed that while all patients initially had some neurological deficit, 13 experienced improvement post-surgery, and there was a significant reduction in pain levels (mean VAS score dropped from 8.2 to 3.3).
  • The findings suggest that the posterior-only method not only successfully addresses structural deformities but also allows for comprehensive treatment of spinal injuries in one surgical session.
