Enhancing team development in an internal medicine resident continuity clinic.

Interprofessional teamwork is important for the provision of safe, high value patient care and is recognized as essential by the ACGME. We aimed to assess the impact of an interprofessional continuity clinic teamwork curriculum on perceptions of team development and patient safety. This project was conducted in an IM Resident Continuity Clinic where 96 residents, supported by 28 faculty and 48 interprofessional team members, attended continuity clinic two afternoons per week during alternating months of a 50/50 outpatient-inpatient training model.

Background: Most organs are maintained lifelong by resident stem/progenitor cells. During development and regeneration, lineage-specific stem/progenitor cells can contribute to the growth or maintenance of different organs, whereas fully differentiated mature cells have less regenerative potential. However, it is unclear whether vascular endothelial cells (ECs) are also replenished by stem/progenitor cells with EC-repopulating potential residing in blood vessels.

Update in Outpatient General Internal Medicine: Practice-Changing Evidence Published in 2023.

The expansive scope of internal medicine can make it challenging for clinicians to stay informed about new literature that changes practice. Guideline updates and synthesis of relevant evidence can facilitate incorporation of advancements into clinical practice. The titles and abstracts from the seven general medicine journals with highest impact factors and relevance to outpatient internal medicine were reviewed by six internal medicine physicians.

Closing the gap: improving the percentage of Annual Wellness Visits among Medicare patients.

Background: The Medicare Annual Wellness Visit (AWV) allows providers to acquire critical information about patients' health through a review of vitals, environmental risks, and medical and family history. These visits are free to those enrolled in Medicare and prioritize patient-provider relationship building and preventative care. Despite this, AWV completion rates are suboptimal.
