The Human Microbiome Project (HMP), initiated in 2007, aimed to gather comprehensive knowledge to create a genetic and metabolic map of human-associated microorganisms and their contribution to physiological states and predisposition to certain diseases. Research has revealed that the human microbiome is highly diverse and exhibits significant interpersonal variability; consequently, its exact impact on health remains unclear. With the development of next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies, the broad spectrum of microbial communities has been better characterized.

: Vulvovaginal atrophy (VVA) significantly impacts the quality of life in breast cancer patients leading to symptoms like vaginal dryness, dyspareunia, and genital discomfort. Quality of life in this context is measured using validated scales like the Vaginal Health Index, Visual Analog Scale (VAS), and the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI). : We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis to identify effective treatment options for VVA, including topical estrogen, systemic hormone therapy, vaginal DHEA, ospemifene, and non-hormonal methods like intravaginal laser therapy, moisturizers, and lubricants.

There is no literature available about the growth differentiation factor-15 (GDF-15) biomarker in combination with mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) deletions in insulin resistance (IR), and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS); however, it would be useful to achieve optimal metabolic status and improve pregnancy success. In this study, the role of GDF-15 and mtDNA deletions as biomarkers in the pathogenesis of IR and PCOS was investigated. In our study, 81 female patients who were treated for IR and/or PCOS and 41 healthy controls were included.

Study Question: Does the Mind/Body Program for Infertility (MBPI) perform better, due to certain distinctive elements, than a partly matched support group in improving the wellbeing and medically assisted reproduction (MAR) outcomes of women with elevated distress levels in a clinical setting?

Summary Answer: While robust enhancements occurred in the wellbeing overall, the cognitive behavioural and formalized stress management elements of the MBPI allowed a significantly stronger improvement in trait anxiety, but not in other mental health and MAR outcomes, compared with a support group.

What Is Known Already: Mind-body psychological programmes adjacent to MAR have been found to improve women's mental states and possibly increase chances of pregnancy. However, not enough is known about the programme's effectiveness among patients with elevated distress levels in routine clinical settings, nor is it clear which of its particular ingredients are specifically effective.
