Background: For the past 25 years, the ITS rDNA (ITS1-5.8S-ITS2) of Gyrodactylidae has been crucial for species identification, description, and phylogeny. This family includes 25 genera parasitizing marine and freshwater fish, initially distinguished by morphological differences in attachment and/or male copulatory organs.

The Role of MicroRNA in the Pathogenesis of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is an X-linked progressive disorder associated with muscle wasting and degeneration. The disease is caused by mutations in the gene that encodes dystrophin, a protein that links the cytoskeleton with cell membrane proteins. The current treatment methods aim to relieve the symptoms of the disease or partially rescue muscle functionality.

Species Phylogeny versus Gene Trees: A Case Study of an Incongruent Data Matrix Based on Pfitz. (Orchidaceae).

The phylogeny of the genus based on the plastome is consistent with morphological analysis. However, to date, none of the analyzed nuclear markers has confirmed this. Topology incongruence among the trees of different nuclear markers concerns entire sections of the subgenus .

Genetic History of the Remnant Population of the Rare Orchid Based on Plastid and Nuclear rDNA.

The lady's slipper orchid (), which inhabits shady deciduous and mixed forests and meadows, is now threatened with extinction in many European countries, and its natural populations have been dramatically declining in recent years. Knowledge of its evolutionary history, genetic variability, and processes in small populations are therefore crucial for the species' protection. Nowadays, in south-west Poland, it is only distributed in seven small remnant and isolated populations, which we examined.

Expression of nerve growth factor (NGF) in endometrium as a potential biomarker for endometriosis - Single tertiary care centre study.

Objective: to identify novel biomarkers for peritoneal endometriosis in eutopic endometrium thus giving an oportunity for non-invasive diagnosis.

Design: A cross-sectional single-center study SETTING: tertiary care hospital PATIENTS: 49 patients subjected to laparoscopy because of suspected endometriosis, 33 patients out of the group qualified to the study had sufficient endometrial tissue taken and were in their follicular phase of menstrual cycle.

Interventions: biopsy sampling of eutopic endometrial tissue during diagnostic or diagnostic and terapeutic laparoscopy, questionaires, MAIN OUTCOME MEASURE(S): qRT-PCR to evaluate the mRNA expression of selected candidate marker genes in endometrium: ARO1 (aromatase), CXCL8 (interleukin 8), NGF (nerve growth factor), VEGF-A (vascular endothelial growth factor A), PDGF-A (platelet-derived growth factor A).
