Earth's topography and climate result from the competition between uplift and erosion, but it has been debated whether rivers or glaciers are more effective erosional agents. We present a global compilation of fluvial and glacial erosion rates alongside simple numerical experiments, which show that the "Sadler effect," wherein geological rates show an inverse relationship with measurement timescale, comprises three distinct effects: a measurement thickness bias, a bias of erosion and redeposition, and a bias introduced by not observing quiescent intervals. Furthermore, we find that, globally, average glacial erosion rates exceed fluvial erosion rates through time by an order of magnitude, and that this difference cannot be explained by Sadlerian biases or by variations in hillslope, precipitation, or latitude.

Understanding the sensitivity of ecosystem respiration (ER) to increasing temperature is crucial to predict how the terrestrial carbon sink responds to a warming climate. The temperature sensitivity of ER may vary on a diurnal basis but is poorly understood due to the paucity of observational sites documenting real ER during daytime at a global scale. Here, we used an improved flux partitioning approach to estimate the apparent temperature sensitivity of ER during the daytime (E) and nighttime (E) derived from multiyear observations of 189 FLUXNET sites.

Introduction: Bisphosphonates have become the standard drugs for the medical management of patients with moderate-to-severe forms of osteogenesis imperfecta (OI). This study was undertaken to study the effect of parenteral pamidronate or oral alendronate therapy, on bone healing after osteotomies in patients with moderately severe forms (Sillence type 4) of OI.

Materials And Methodology: We retrospectively evaluated the effects of bisphosphonate therapy on the healing of seven osteotomies in five patients of OI (Sillence type 4) who underwent Sofield Millar procedure for deformity correction and non-union of long bone fractures.
