Machine learning-enhanced HRCT analysis for diagnosis and severity assessment in pediatric asthma.

Objectives: Chest high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) is conditionally recommended to rule out conditions that mimic or coexist with severe asthma in children. However, it may provide valuable insights into identifying structural airway changes in pediatric patients. This study aims to develop a machine learning-based chest HRCT image analysis model to aid pediatric pulmonologists in identifying features of severe asthma.

Effect of Magnetic Resonance Imaging at 1.5 T and 3 T on Temperature and Bond Strength of Orthodontic Bands with Welded Tubes: An In Vitro Study.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a widely used diagnostic technique. Patients wearing orthodontic devices are often requested to remove their appliances before an MRI exam, even when the exam involves anatomical areas far from the head, in order to prevent the heating and detachment of the appliances. The present report aims to evaluate changes in temperature and adhesive forces of molar bands after MRI at two different strength outputs.

Cerebral Toxocariasis as a Cause of Epilepsy: A Pediatric Case.

Toxocarosis is the consequence of human infection by spp. larvae and is one of the most common ascarioses, not only in developing countries, but also in the European region, where its prevalence reaches 14%. Due to their particular behavior, children are at higher risk of this parasitic infection, whose clinical features depend on the localization of the larvae.

Imaging of head and neck lipoblastoma: case report and systematic review.

Lipoblastoma is a rare and benign tumour arising from embryonal fat cells, predominantly diagnosed in children younger than 3 years old. The most frequent locations are the extremities and trunk, while the head and neck areas are more rarely affected (10-15% of total cases). Clinically, the most common presentation is a fast-growing painless mass.

MRI features of cotyledonoid dissecting leiomyoma of the uterus.

Imaging evaluation of uterine masses is important to assess the type of lesion and to target surgery, if surgical excision is necessary. This can be decisive in fertile women with benign masses resembling malignancies, in order to avoid overtreatment. In this study, the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) appearance of cotyledonoid dissecting leiomyoma of the uterus, a rare benign variant of leiomyoma mimicking malignancy, is presented.
