Geospatial Distribution, Accessibility and Utilization of Basic Emergency Obstetric and New-born Care in Jigawa State, Northwest Nigeria.

Background: High maternal mortality has remained a problem, especially in developing countries. Ensuring availability and utilization of Basic Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care services (BEmONC) reduce maternal morbidity and mortality. The study aimed to determine the geospatial distribution, accessibility and utilization of BEmONC services in Jigawa State.

Synthesis, molecular dynamics simulation and antimicrobial activity of novel s-triazine clubbed with three different hybrid pharmacophores.

To address microbial infections and combat drug resistance, we designed, synthesized, and evaluated three novel s-triazine clubbed pharmacophores: 1-acetylpyrazoline (5a-e), 2-aminopyrimidine (6a-e), and 1,5-benzodiazepine (7a-e). These were derived from chalcone (4a-e), showing improved pharmacological profiles. The compounds underwent characterization by FTIR, NMR, and Mass Spectroscopy, and their antimicrobial activities, along with structure-activity relationships (SAR), were assessed using in silico and in vitro methods.

Predictor of diplopia in pure orbital blowout fracture: A 14-year retrospective analysis.

Introduction: Orbital fractures are common among maxillofacial injuries. The primary objective of this study was to investigate the clinical and radiographic characteristics of pure orbital blowout fractures (OBFs) and their association with post-traumatic diplopia. The secondary objective was to identify predictors of diplopia in pure OBFs.

The escalating challenge of drug-resistant TB underscores the critical need for novel medications. This study focuses on the enzyme 3-hydroquinate dehydratase (DHQD) in the shikimate pathway of (Mtb), essential for Mtb growth.

Pathways to Hypertension Control: Unfinished Journeys of Low-Income Individuals in Malaysia and the Philippines.

Background: Reducing inequities in hypertension control among those affected in low- and middle-income countries requires person-centred health system responses based on a contextualised understanding of the choices and care pathways taken by those who rely on the services provided, particularly those from poor and marginalised communities. We examine patterns of care seeking and pathways followed by individuals with hypertension from low-income households in the Philippines and Malaysia. This study aims to fill a significant gap in the literature by analysing the stages at which individuals make decisions that may affect the successful control of their blood pressure.
