Background: CALR mutation analysis is routinely used to diagnose BCR/ABL1-negative myeloproliferative neoplasms. The 2 most common CALR mutations are a 52-base pair (bp) deletion and a 5-bp insertion, which account for approximately 85% of cases.

Methods: To evaluate our new microfluidic chip assay, we tested CALR mutant and wild-type specimens that were previously analyzed using conventional methods at a reference laboratory.

Engagement of the core abdominal muscles is essential to maintain proper alignment, technique, and safety. This study compared the muscular amplitude of the upper and lower rectus abdominis muscles' EMG during six Pilates-based abdominal exercises with the FITNESSGRAM in order to determine which may be more effective for dancers. A sphygmomanometer is used as a training tool for neutral pelvis stability; therefore this study also investigated the muscle activation of the Pilates-based exercises with and without the use of a sphygmomanometer to determine which would be more effective in muscular engagement.

Purpose: Because of advances in hematopoietic cell transplant (HCT), meeting the long-term health needs of increasing numbers of HCT survivors remains challenging. This multicenter trial aimed to assess the short- and long-term effects of an exercise and mindfulness intervention delivered by telehealth.

Methods: One hundred thirty-nine participants >6 months post-HCT were randomly assigned 1:1 to a 6-week personalized exercise and mindfulness training with three motivation sessions at 3-6 months via an online meeting platform or usual care.

Article Synopsis
  • The renal clinical nurse specialist (CNS) serves as a vital support and information source for patients with kidney cancer, especially during advanced treatment stages.
  • There are challenges in the UK, including a decreasing urology workforce and a recruitment crisis that leaves many new CNSs without necessary competencies.
  • Improved kidney cancer treatments require dedicated CNSs to help manage patient care throughout the cancer journey, supported by educational initiatives like ACCEND and RCC4Nurses to enhance CNS skills and effectiveness.

Article Synopsis
  • Phylogenetic analysis faces challenges due to genealogical heterogeneity among molecular markers, primarily influenced by factors like incomplete lineage sorting (ILS) and gene flow.
  • * This study investigates the phylogeny of Coenonympha butterflies using large datasets including whole mitogenomes and nuclear loci, revealing high levels of gene tree discordance, especially in complex evolutionary branches.
  • * The findings highlight that historical evolutionary conflicts like ILS complicate species relationships and taxonomy within this butterfly group, emphasizing that gene conflict can obscure phylogenetic clarity even with ample data.
