Epithelial injury is one of the major drivers of acute pulmonary diseases. Recurring injury followed by aberrant repair is considered as the primary cause of chronic lung diseases, such as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). Preclinical in vivo models allow studying early disease-driving mechanisms like the recently established adeno-associated virus-diphtheria toxin receptor (AAV-DTR) mouse model of acute epithelial lung injury, which utilises AAV mediated expression of the human DTR.

This study evaluates the RCR of fellowship-trained adult reconstructive orthopaedic surgeons with the goal of analyzing potentially influential physician demographics.
Methods: Adult Reconstruction Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education fellowship-trained faculty for orthopaedic residency programs were identified via departmental websites.
Total knee arthroplasty is one of the safest and most routinely performed orthopedic procedures. As the volume of cases is expected to rise each year, so too will the incidence of uncommon complications. We describe a rare case of bullous pemphigoid, an autoimmune skin blistering disorder, that occurred after total knee arthroplasty in an otherwise healthy patient and led to hospital readmission.

One goal is the investigation of the performance of this low flow plasma compared to a conventional ICP-OES system when non-aqueous samples with a certain matrix are introduced into the system.
