Coexisting autoimmune disorders among patients with inflammatory bowel disease at a tertiary center in Saudi Arabia: A cross-sectional study.

Background: Approximately 25% of individuals with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) concurrently experience immune-mediated inflammatory diseases (IMIDs), while the overall prevalence of these conditions in the general population is 5-7%. Individuals with IBD and concurrent IMIDs tend to have a more aggressive disease profile. We aimed to assess the prevalence of coexisting autoimmune disorders among patients with IBD and their association with inflammatory bowel disease type.

Safety and effectiveness of ataluren in patients with Duchenne muscular dystrophy: single-center experience from Saudi Arabia.

Objective: Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a rare X-linked neurodegenerative disorder caused by mutations in the gene. This study examined the efficacy and safety of ataluren, the first oral treatment for DMD with nonsense mutations (nmDMD), in patients in the Middle East.

Methods: This retrospective longitudinal study assessed the outcomes of seven boys with nmDMD who received treatment with ataluren and follow-up at a single center since 2016.

Purpose: The PD-1/PD-L1 pathway is one of the most effective immune checkpoint pathways utilized for cancer immunotherapy. Despite the success of anti-PD-1/PD-L1 mAbs, there is growing interest in developing low molecular weight anti-PD-1/PD-1 agents, such as peptides, because of their improved tumor penetration. We recently developed a small anti-PD-L1 peptide and demonstrated its promising anti-tumor activity.

Mortality patterns in chronic granulomatous invasive fungal rhinosinusitis: insights from two fatal cases.
