The design and synthesis of unique two series of fluorinated sulfonamides 3a-f and 5a-g utilizing nucleophilic aromatic substitution reactions of tetrafluorophthalonitrile 1 with various sulfonamides 2 under a variety of different reactions conditions were the key goals of the current research. The chemical composition of the generated products has been investigated via mass spectroscopy, HNMR, CNMR, infrared, and elemental analyzes. Antimicrobial studies were conducted in vitro to evaluate the activity of all new synthesized compounds against resistant strains.

Structured internal representations ('cognitive maps') shape cognition, from imagining the future and counterfactual past, to transferring knowledge to new settings. Our understanding of how such representations are formed and maintained in biological and artificial neural networks has grown enormously. The cognitive mapping hypothesis of schizophrenia extends this enquiry to psychiatry, proposing that diverse symptoms - from delusions to conceptual disorganization - stem from abnormalities in how the brain forms structured representations.

The effectiveness of a new series of thiopyrimidine and thiourea containing sulfonamides moieties was tested on HCT-116, MCF-7, HepG2, and A549. HepG2 cell line was the one that all the new derivatives affected the most. The greatest potent compounds against the four HepG2, HCT116, MCF-7, and A549 cell lines were 8f and 8g with IC  = 4.
