Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigates the use of BET-loaded liposomal nanocarriers (LPN) as a potential new treatment for Alzheimer’s disease (AD) due to the low effectiveness of betanin (BET) from previous research.
  • - In an experiment with 48 male Wistar rats, those treated with BET LPN showed significant improvements in memory and reduced brain degeneration compared to rats receiving other forms of BET or a control treatment.
  • - BET LPN treatment not only improved cognitive function but also targeted specific biomarkers and pathways associated with AD, suggesting that it may be a more effective method than traditional oral BET for combating the disease.

Unlabelled: This study presents the first in vivo and in vitro evidence of an externally controlled, predictive, MRI-based nanotheranostic agent capable of cancer cell specific targeting and killing via irreversible electroporation (IRE) in solid tumors. The rectangular-prism-shaped magnetoelectric nanoparticle is a smart nanoparticle that produces a local electric field in response to an externally applied magnetic field. When externally activated, MENPs are preferentially attracted to the highly conductive cancer cell membranes, which occurs in cancer cells because of dysregulated ion flux across their membranes.

Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease that affects patients' quality of life. This study aimed to enhance the efficacy of topical application of fluticasone propionate (FP) using a eucalyptus oil-based nanoemulsion, an oil possessing anti-inflammatory activity and extracted from the leaves, fruits, and buds of Eucalyptus globulus or Eucalyptus maidenii, to improve the skin deposition of FP and aid its anti-inflammatory effect. Box-Behnken design was employed to optimize NE formulations, which were characterized for globule size, zeta potential, polydispersity index, rheological behavior, microscopic morphology, ex vivo skin permeation/deposition, and in vivo efficacy using imiquimod-induced psoriatic lesions.

Five new β-alkylpyrrole derivatives, allostreptopyrroles A-E (-), were isolated from the culture broth of RD068384. Their structures were elucidated by 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopic analyses, HRESIMS, and chemical derivatization. The absolute configurations of compounds and were predicted by comparison of experimental and calculated specific rotation data.

Breast arterial calcifications (BAC) are a type of calcification commonly observed on mammograms and are generally considered benign and not associated with breast cancer. However, there is accumulating observational evidence of an association between BAC and cardiovascular disease, the leading cause of death in women. We present a deep learning method that could assist radiologists in detecting and quantifying BAC in synthesized 2D mammograms.
