Introduction: Ulcerative Colitis (UC) is an Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). Surgery is required in cases of severe acute colitis, massive hemorrhage, toxic megacolon, and perforation; in such cases colectomy and JpouchIleoanal anastomosis (IPAA) are performed. The aim of this study was to evaluate functional outcome, and patient satisfaction and Quality of Life (QoL) after surgery.

Despite the relevance of this feature, it is common practice to perform qualitative assessments at the electrode scale, thus masking local effects. To address this issue, we have developed a computational strategy to aid in the design of nanowire electrodes with improved electrical homogeneity.

Such an approach was compared to a conventionally heated (ConvH) process, analyzing the performances of different catalysts. The use of microwaves allowed a 94% decrease in the reaction time scale of rigid PU depolymerization, with a concurrent 45% reduction in energy expense.
