Randomized study of induction with bendamustine-rituximab ± bortezomib and maintenance with rituximab ± lenalidomide for MCL.

Although initial therapy of mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is not standardized, bendamustine plus rituximab (BR) is commonly used in older patients. Rituximab (R) maintenance after induction is often used. Thus, the open-label, randomized phase 2 ECOG-ACRIN Cancer Research Group E1411 trial was designed to test 2 questions: (1) does addition of bortezomib to BR induction (BVR) and/or (2) addition of lenalidomide to rituximab (LR) maintenance improve progression-free survival (PFS) in patients with treatment-naïve MCL? From 2012 to 2016, 373 previously untreated patients, 87% aged ≥60 years, were enrolled in this trial.

Discovery of the first hydrothermal field along the 500-km-long Knipovich Ridge offshore Svalbard (the Jøtul field).

Oceanic spreading centers north of Iceland are characterized by ultraslow spreading rates, and related hydrothermal activity has been detected in the water column and at the seafloor along nearly all ridge segments. An exception is the 500-km-long Knipovich Ridge, from where, until now, no hydrothermal vents were known. Here we report the investigation of the first hydrothermal vent field of the Knipovich Ridge, which was discovered in July 2022 during expedition MSM109.

Inhibition of lipid synthesis by the HIV integrase strand transfer inhibitor elvitegravir in primary rat oligodendrocyte cultures.

Combined antiretroviral therapy (cART) has greatly decreased mortality and morbidity among persons with HIV; however, neurologic impairments remain prevalent, in particular HIV-associated neurocognitive disorders (HANDs). White matter damage persists in cART-treated persons with HIV and may contribute to neurocognitive dysfunction as the lipid-rich myelin membrane of oligodendrocytes is essential for efficient nerve conduction. Because of the importance of lipids to proper myelination, we examined the regulation of lipid synthesis in oligodendrocyte cultures exposed to the integrase strand transfer inhibitor elvitegravir (EVG), which is administered to persons with HIV as part of their initial regimen.

NUCB2/nesfatin-1 in the acute stress response of obese women with high and low anxiety.

NUCB2/nesfatin-1 is an anorexigenic peptide hormone first known for its effects on energy homeostasis. More recently, a growing evidence suggests a role of NUCB2/nesfatin-1 in emotion regulation, particularly in the modulation of anxiety, depression and emotional stress response. Since stress-related mood disorders are often comorbid with obesity, we investigated the effect of acute psychosocial stress on circulating NUCB2/nesfatin-1 in obese women and normal-weight controls and its association with symptoms of anxiety.

Influence of Cementation on the Aesthetical Appearance of Full-Ceramic Restorations.

The use of dental ceramics as restorative materials requires corresponding luting materials (cements) that, in turn, influence the visual appearance of the restoration. Due to the high light transmission through the ceramics, the cements can affect the color perception of the dental restoration. This study aims to investigate the optical effects of various cements on the visual appearance of full-ceramic restorations.
