Background & Aims: Phase angle (PhA) is viewed as a holistic indicator of quantity and quality of cellularity and hydration status and has emerged as a significant predictor of patient outcome in clinical medicine. We sought to analyze the impact of hospitalization as a surrogate for disease on the distribution of PhA and its dependency on influence variables age, sex, height and weight without any assumption as to the form of PhA-distribution.

Methods: First PhA measurements obtained from 2418 women (median age 75 IQR[63; 82]) and 2541 men (median age 70 IQR[60; 79]) hospitalized in a Community General Hospital were analyzed.

Some insects, such as the painted lady butterfly , exhibit complex annual migratory cycles spanning multiple generations. Traversing extensive seas or deserts is often a required segment of these migratory journeys. We develop a bioavailable strontium isoscape for Europe and Africa and then use isotope geolocation combining hydrogen and strontium isotopes to estimate the natal origins of painted ladies captured north and south of the Sahara during spring and autumn, respectively.

Understanding and managing the political context of health policies is crucial to improving the chances of effectively designing, adopting, and implementing health policies and reforms that can achieve their intended objectives. This article focuses on applied political analysis as an approach to assist policymakers and public health professionals in improving political feasibility for policies and reforms. The article draws on our experience in doing applied political analysis and in advising and teaching others how to do applied political analysis.
