: Large-scale vaccination was crucial to address the global COVID-19 pandemic and its associated health risks, including fatal and disabling diseases. However, there were significant challenges to be overcome to ensure the safe and effective implementation of the vaccination program. The aim of the present study was to assess patient safety threats related to the anti-COVID-19 large-scale vaccination process.

AIHEMAF-P: An Innovative Healthcare Model for Atrial Fibrillation Patients.

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is one of the most common cardiac arrhythmias of clinical relevance and a major cause of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Following a diagnosis of AF, patients are directed towards therapy with anticoagulant drugs to reduce the thromboembolic risk and antiarrhythmics to control their cardiac rhythm, with periodic follow-up checks. Despite the great ease of handling these drugs, we soon realized the need for follow-up models that would allow the appropriateness and safety of these pharmacological treatments to be monitored over time.

Oxidative Stress, Lysosomal Permeability, and Mitochondrial-Derived Vesicles Induced in NL-20 Human Bronchial Cells Exposed to Benzo[ghi]Perylene.

Benzo[ghi] perylene (b[ghi]p) is classified as non-carcinogenic to humans, and there are currently no occupational exposure models available to identify its effects. The aim of this work was to evaluate the effect of b[ghi]p on the lysosomes of NL-20 cells (a human bronchial cell line) exposed to 4.5 μM for 3 h.

Effects of the Italian Law on Patient Safety and Health Professional Responsibilities Five Years after Its Approval by the Italian Parliament.

The application of the Italian law No. 24/2017, which focused on patient safety and medical liability, in the Italian National Health Service has been evaluated by a survey conducted five years after the promulgation of the law. The law required the establishment of healthcare risk management and patient safety centers in all Italian regions and the appointment of a Clinical Risk Manager (CRM) in all Italian public and private healthcare facilities.
