Background: Insulin resistance (IR) and serum uric acid (SUA) are closely interconnected: SUA contributes to adversely affects the insulin signaling pathway and contributes to IR, while IR is a known predictor for the development of hyperuricemia. The triglyceride (TG) to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) ratio has been proposed as an easily obtainable marker for IR. This research aimed to investigate the interaction between IR and glomerular filtration rate (GFR)-adjusted uricemia (SUA/GFR ratio) in determining CV risk in a large population cohort study.

Background: Respiratory disease is a frequent cause of morbidity and mortality in common variable immunodeficiencies (CVIDs); however, lung function trajectories are poorly understood.

Objective: We sought to determine lung physiology measurements in CVIDs, their temporal trajectory, and their association with clinical and immunologic parameters.

Purpose Of Review: The purpose of the review is to describe the most recent advancement in understanding of the pivotal role of autoimmune regulator ( AIRE ) gene expression in central and peripheral tolerance, and the implications of its impairment in the genetic and pathogenesis of autoimmune polyendocrinopathy-candidiasis-ectodermal dystrophy (APECED) manifestations with insight into possible treatment options.

Recent Findings: AIRE gene expression has an important role of central and peripheral tolerance. Different AIRE gene mutations cause APECED, whereas polymorphisms and some variants may be implicated in development of other more frequently autoimmune diseases.
