Purpose: The present study investigated the role of resistance-nodulation-cell division (RND) efflux pumps in tigecycline resistance of Acinetobacter baumannii clinical isolates recovered from three Western Balkan countries (Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro).
Methods: A total of 37 A. baumannii isolates recovered from seven tertiary care hospitals in 2016 and 2022 were tested against tigecycline using broth microdilution method.
Extra-skeletal Ewing sarcoma (EWS) occurs in about 12% of EWS patients; at the same time, primary involvement of the kidneys remains extremely rare. Since it was first described in 1975, only a small case series have been reported worldwide. About 95% of surgically treated patients with EWS of the kidney described in the literature underwent nephrectomy, and the remaining patients only had a tumor biopsy.

Canadian 21- to 36-month-olds (N = 48) participated in four helping tasks varying in the type and degree of effort required to help (lifting force, cognitive load, the number of steps in a task, and pushing force). When costs were lower, toddlers were not only more likely to help but also provided help more readily and helped in ways that prioritized others' needs.

Teaching is the primary way children learn about the world. However, successful learning involves recognizing when teaching is ineffective, even in the absence of overt cues, and divesting from ineffective teaching to explore novel solutions. Across three experiments, we investigated 7- to 10-year-old children's ability to recognize ineffective teaching; we tested the hypothesis that girls may be less likely than boys to divest by exploring new solutions, given documented gender differences in socialization toward conformity and obedience.

Various alternative methods to reduce the calibrator use and improve efficiency without compromising analytical quality have been investigated, and a single-point calibration has been reported to be the simplest, least expensive and the quickest approach.
