We investigate the properties of the photon Bose-Einstein condensate in the limit of small mode spacing. Alongside the well-known threshold of the phase transition at large mode spacings, we find an emergence of a second threshold for sufficiently small mode spacings, defining the crossover to a fully condensed state. Furthermore, we present our findings for the mode occupations in the precondensate or supercooling region towards the continuum limit.

Element concentrations were determined using inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES). Significant differences in elemental concentrations between analyzed tissues were observed for Ag, Al, Cu, Fe, Hg, K, Mg, Mn, Mo, Na, P, S, Se, and Zn.

Hence, the integrity and resilience of these materials and their ability to provide sufficient zonal isolation in the long-term are unknown. The present work focuses on investigating the potential to use zeolites as novel additives to the commonly used Class-H cement.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFSpin-resolved momentum microscopy and theoretical calculations are combined beyond the one-electron approximation to unveil the spin-dependent electronic structure of the interface formed between iron (Fe) and an ordered oxygen (O) atomic layer, and an adsorbate-induced enhancement of electronic correlations is found. It is demonstrated that this enhancement is responsible for a drastic narrowing of the Fe d-bands close to the Fermi energy (E ) and a reduction of the exchange splitting, which is not accounted for in the Stoner picture of ferromagnetism. In addition, correlation leads to a significant spin-dependent broadening of the electronic bands at higher binding energies and their merging with satellite features, which are manifestations of a pure many-electron behavior.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe increase in the resistivity with decreasing temperature followed by a drop by more than one order of magnitude is observed on the metallic side near the zero-magnetic-field metal-insulator transition in a strongly interacting two-dimensional electron system in ultra-clean SiGe/Si/SiGe quantum wells. We find that the temperature [Formula: see text], at which the resistivity exhibits a maximum, is close to the renormalized Fermi temperature. However, rather than increasing along with the Fermi temperature, the value [Formula: see text] decreases appreciably for spinless electrons in spin-polarizing (parallel) magnetic fields.
