Background&aims: Non-invasive tests (NITs) for ruling-out clinical significant portal hypertension (CSPH) and high-risk varices (HRV) in patients with primary biliary cholangitis(PBC) and compensated advanced chronic liver disease (cACLD) are lacking. We evaluated NITs in these patients and the influence of cholestasis on their performance.

Methods: Consecutive patients from the "Italian PBC registry" and two UK large-volume PBC referral centres with upper endoscopy within 6 months from biochemical evaluation and transient elastography were included.

Background: Chronic total occlusion (CTO) of the portal vein is one of the main causes of portal hypertension, which may result in life-threatening complications often managed by interventional radiology (IR). The aim of this study is to report the innovative experience with percutaneous revascularization therapy in the management of portal vein CTO in paediatric and adult patients.

Materials And Methods: From January 2020 to December 2023 consecutive paediatric and adult patients with severe portal hypertension resulting from portal vein CTO who underwent attempts at percutaneous recanalization were retrospectively reviewed.

Background And Purpose: Residual axial and rotational deformities in tibial shaft fracture, after minimally invasive osteosynthesis (MIO) treatment, are widely described in literature. Nevertheless, there is still a lack of evidence about the malunion treatment strategies and results. The aim of our study is to present an innovative technique for tibial shaft malunion: a derotational proximal tibial osteotomy without removing the original plate (Plate-Retaining-Osteotomy: PR-Osteotomy).

Article Synopsis
  • Solid organ transplant candidates and recipients are highly vulnerable to infections due to pre-existing diseases and immunosuppressive treatments they undergo post-transplant.
  • Vaccination programs are crucial for preventing infections in this population, especially for children who may have an immature immune system and incomplete vaccination status before receiving a transplant.
  • The review emphasizes the importance of ensuring comprehensive vaccination coverage for pediatric patients prior to transplantation to enhance post-transplant health outcomes.

Article Synopsis
  • The study examines the repeatability of pelvic mobility measures (sacral slope and pelvic tilt) in non-arthritic patients with hip pain and positive impingement tests.
  • It found that the measurements for pelvic mobility had excellent reliability (ICC > 0.97) across different positions and movements.
  • However, pelvic incidence showed limited correlation with pelvic mobility measures, suggesting that pelvic mobility should be prioritized for diagnosing and treating hip pain rather than relying on pelvic incidence.
