Efficacy of COVID-19 treatments among geriatric patients: a systematic review.

Introduction: A majority of the fatalities due to COVID-19 have been observed in those over the age of 60. There is no approved and universally accepted treatment for geriatric patients. The aim of this review is to assess the current literature on efficacy of COVID-19 treatments in geriatric populations.

Effect of Ionic Strength and Surface Charge on Convective Deposition.

Particle-particle and particle-substrate interactions play a crucial role in capillary driven convective self-assembly for continuous deposition of particles. This systematic study demonstrates the nontrivial effects of varying surface charge and ionic strength of monosized silica microspheres in water on the quality of the deposited monolayer. Increase in particle surface charge results a broader range of parameters that result in monolayer deposition which can be explained considering the particle-substrate electrostatic repulsion in solution.

A maternal and perinatal mortality in pregnancy complicated by the kyphoscoliotic form of Ehlers-Danlos syndrome.

Background: Ehlers-Danlos syndrome is a group of inherited connective tissue diseases demonstrating autosomal-dominant, autosomal-recessive, and X-linked inheritance patterns. The diagnosis can be established by clinical, biochemical, and genetic findings.

Case: Our nulliparous patient presented with an unspecified diagnosis of Ehlers-Danlos syndrome.

Malignant fibrous histiocytoma of the pelvis.

A case of a 33-year-old Caucasian female with a malignant fibrous histiocytoma arising in the left ischiorectal fossa just under the left posterolateral vaginal wall is presented. Transvaginal simple excision of the tumor was followed by 5000 rad external beam whole pelvis irradiation and 6000 rad to the tumor bed. The patient is without evidence of disease 24 months after therapy and maintains normal vaginal function.
