FOUR CASES OF SEVERED PEDUNCLES IN BOTTLENOSE DOLPHINS () ALONG THE ALABAMA COAST.

Alabama (AL) is a hotspot in the Gulf of Mexico (GoM) for human interaction-related cetacean strandings, including harassment, vessel strikes, and fisheries interactions. We examined four bottlenose dolphins () stranded dead along the AL coast during 2012-2017 with severed peduncles suspected to be related to human interaction (HI). Evidence from each case, including photographs, gross necropsy results, and histopathologic findings when available, was reviewed to determine the mode of severance and whether it contributed to death.

Addressing the challenges of combined sewer overflows.

Europe's ageing wastewater system often combines domestic sewage with surface runoff and industrial wastewaters. To reduce the associated risk of overloading wastewater treatment works during storms, and to prevent wastewater backing-up into properties, Combined Sewer Overflows (CSOs) are designed into wastewater networks to release excess discharge into rivers or coastal waters without treatment. In view of growing regulatory scrutiny and increasing public concern about their excessive discharge frequencies and potential impacts on environments and people, there is a need to better understand these impacts to allow prioritisation of cost-effective solutions.

[Methicillin-susceptible Staphylococcus aureus bacteraemia].

Methicillin-susceptible staphylococcus aureus bacteremia is frequent and constantly increasing in Switzerland. It is associated with a high morbidity/mortality, despite antibiotic treatments. Through two clinical cases we discuss the epidemiology, pathophysiology, clinical presentation and treatment of this "disease", for which the history and clinical examination remain central in order to guarantee an optimal management.

Defining core conceptual knowledge: Why pharmacy education needs a new, evidence-based approach.

Introduction: No pharmacy program, however well-resourced, has sufficient time or resources to teach students all current, practice-relevant knowledge. And while the volume of potential pharmacy education curriculum content increases exponentially each year, available time for direct instruction continues to decline. Given these constraints, pharmacy curricula must focus on promoting deep learning of the most critical, fundamental, broadly applicable, and lasting knowledge.
