The present work reports on the preparation, characterization, and evaluation of a set of novel triphenyl-modified silica-based stationary phases without and with embedded ion-exchange sites for mixed-mode liquid chromatography. The three synthesized triphenyl phases differed in additionally incorporated ion-exchange sites. In one embodiment, allyltriphenylsilane was bonded to thiol-modified silica by thiol-ene click reaction, leading to particles with no ion-exchange sites.

The problem of finding a suitable biomarker to widen the detection window of γ-hydroxybutyric acid (GHB) intake remains a challenge in forensic toxicology. Based on previously published results, the present study deals with the evaluation of a fatty acid ester of GHB (4-palmitoyloxy butyrate (GHB-Pal)) in whole blood as a potential biomarker to extend the detection window of GHB use e.g.

Methods: From the elevation of the anterior cornea and the refractive error of the eye, the target cornea can be calculated and the difference between actual and target cornea corresponds to the tissue to be removed. In this approach, it is further possible to preset the ablation depth at one (Model 1) or two (Models 2 and 3) particular locations.
Background: Graduates who fail the National Council Licensing Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) require evidence-informed educational support.
Method: This educational development study tested an online program created by a nurse educator and researcher for Canadian-educated nursing students ( = 19) who were taking the NCLEX-RN for the second time. Data collected were biweekly virtual meetings with detailed field notes, program completion data, and self-reported NCLEX-RN results.
