Nosocomial infections or healthcare-associated infections, normally develops after the healthcare treatment in the hospital. Most of them are caused by infected medical devices. Plastics are the most common materials for manufacturing these devices because of their good processability, sterilization efficacy, ease of handling and harmlessness, however, it usually do not display antimicrobial properties.

Medical records of a 76-year-old woman with a recurrent acinic cell carcinoma of the left parotid gland with lateral skull base invasion were reviewed. She underwent subtotal petrosectomy followed by radiation therapy. After surgery, she remained disease-free for more than 16 months.

Methods: A retrospective multicenter analysis of patients treated for AciCC of the parotid gland from 2000 to 2021 was performed. Exclusion criteria were pediatric (0-18 years) patients, the absence of follow-up and patients with secondary metastatic disease to the parotid gland.
