Bony prominence and variations of the transverse sinus groove: novel anatomical findings in relation to sinus pathologies.

The transverse sinus (TS) is often involved with pathology for structural reasons. The aim of this study was to improve understanding of the anatomy along the groove of the TS and sigmoid sinus (SS), to discuss the relationship between the bony features and pathologies affecting the TS. Seventy dry skulls (140 sides) were used for detailed observation of the TS and SS grooves using gross investigation coupled with transillumination.

Non-invasive imaging modalities for diagnosing pulsatile tinnitus: a comprehensive review and recommended imaging algorithm.

Pulsatile tinnitus (PT) is a challenging diagnostic condition arising from various vascular, neoplastic, and systemic disorders. Non-invasive imaging is essential for identifying underlying causes while minimizing risks of invasive diagnostic angiography. Although no consensus exists on the primary imaging modality for PT and currently CT, ultrasound, and MRI are used in the diagnostic pathway, MRI is increasingly preferred as the first-line screening test for its diagnostic efficacy and safety.

Jugular venous narrowing and spontaneous spinal cerebrospinal fluid leaks: A case-control study exploring association and proposed mechanism.

Background: Spontaneous skull base cerebrospinal fluid leaks (CSFLs) are associated with increased intracranial pressure in idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) and hypothesized to relate to skull base erosions due to increased CSF pressure. Given the increasing recognition of internal jugular venous stenosis (IJVS) as a cause of intracranial hypertension (IH), we evaluated the relationship between spinal CSFL and venous causes of IH.

Methods: The spinal CSFL database at a single institution was assessed to identify 12 consecutive spontaneous, non-traumatic spinal CSFL patients with CTV data.
