This work aimed to study the production, for the first time, of three fermented products of chestnut puree (CP) with milk kefir grains, a higher nisin-producing (Lactococcus (L.) lactis CECT 539) and a higher lactic acid-producing (Lactobacillus (Lb.) casei CECT 4043) lactic acid bacteria (LAB).

Metastatic Sclerosing Epithelioid Fibrosarcoma at Diagnosis: A Case Report.

Sclerosing epithelioid fibrosarcoma (SEF) is a rare and aggressive neoplasm composed of epithelioid cells arranged in strands and nests embedded in a highly sclerotic collagenous stroma. We report a case of a 36-year-old man who started with lumbar pain, with extension to both legs, night sweats, and weight loss. He underwent magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the lumbar spine; computed tomography (CT) scan of the chest, abdomen, and pelvis; and [18F]-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (18F-FDG PET/CT) scan.

Predictive factors for ventriculoperitoneal shunt placement in aneurysmatic subarachnoid hemorrhages.

Introduction: Aneurysmatic subarachnoid hemorrhages (aSAH) are life-threatening events with high mortality and morbidity. Hydrocephalus is a common complication, initially managed with an external ventricular drain (EVD). Persistent hydrocephalus often requires ventriculoperitoneal shunt (VPS) placement to relieve intracranial pressure and prevent further neurological damage.

Clinical Consultation in the Workplace: Are There Implications for Response Attitudes?

The clinical-organizational context (where clinical psychology services are provided in the individuals' professional setting) has still been insufficiently approached in research, namely the influence it may have on the response attitudes of individuals undergoing psychological assessment. Our main goal is to find out if, when psychological assessment occurs in the workplace context, patients being assessed present specific response bias that may have implications for the clinical results and correlative decisions. Five hundred and ten adult participants grouped in two samples of ambulatory patients - Clinical-Organizational Sample (COS = 238) and Clinical Sample (CS = 272) - were assessed with the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-2-RF validity and substantive scales.

Extramedullary Intradural Primary Spinal Angiosarcoma: A Case Study.

Angiosarcoma is a rare soft tissue sarcoma, namely when it presents as a primary intradural extramedullary spinal neoplasm, with only one case of non-vertebral origin reported in the literature. We present the case of a 51-year-old woman with neurological symptoms of paraparesis and constipation who underwent a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) that revealed a well-demarcated, predominantly homogeneous, intensely enhancing intradural extramedullary lesion in T2-weighted images. Histology, immunohistochemistry, and genetics of the lesion showed an angiosarcoma.
